Performed In Concert, This Will Be Encore’s First Full-Length Musical Production
SAN DIEGO – August 8, 2017 – Encore Vocal Ensemble is bringing the Tony Award-winning musical Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical to life in San Diego. Hair featuresfavorite hits such as “Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine,” “Good Morning, Starshine,” “Hair,” “I Got Life,” and many more.
Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Hair’s off-Broadway premiere in October 1967, Encore’s presentation of Hair will be performed in concert on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. with a pre-show reception at 6:30 p.m. at the Creative Performing Arts Theater (CPMA), located at 5050 Conrad Ave. in the Clairemont area of San Diego.
Hair provides a humorous, colorful, and often poignant look at the rise of hippie culture and the sexual revolution in the shadow of the Vietnam War. Following a tribe of young people living in bohemian New York City, Hair is a potent exploration of the themes that defined the “Age of Aquarius,” including identity, community, sexuality, global responsibility, and peace. Considered controversial in its time, Hair remains as relevant as ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world.
Tickets to Hollywood Hits are $25 and can be purchased online or at the door. Audience members can save $5 by using the discount code HAIRTIX20 when purchasing tickets in advance online.
PARENTAL ADVISORY: Contains adult language and themes involving sex, drugs, and violence. While many find this show suitable for young adults 13 and older, parental discretion is strongly advised.
